Since Oracle acquired Sun MicroSystem there is been some inquiettude in Java community. First sign that something was wrong (terribly wrong I would say) was Jim Gosling's depart from Oracle right after the deal. Now Oracle is suiting Google; Whatelse people need in order to understand that Java is no longer a everyone property, but an asset that belongs to a privately held company?

Java's future seems not so bright as it used to be. New threats from hardware advances (multicore for instance), complex frameworks, lack of clear leadership in many areas and the unbelievable increasing ownership cost is making Java a true legacy. If something not happen to change that course, Java will meet Cobol to a chess match in the same retirement home...soon.
